CareerBuilder.com, the nation's largest online job site, announced it is launching a new site dedicated to federal government job search and information at WorkforAmerica.com. With competition on the rise to recruit qualified workers for federal government positions, WorkforAmerica.com will help expedite the recruitment process by connecting top job candidates interested in the public sector with key federal agencies such as the CIA, U.S. Navy, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Veteran Affairs and Department of Energy.

A 2006 report by The Partnership for Public Service states that of the 1.9 million people currently serving in the federal government, 44 percent will be eligible to retire by 2010 -- including 60 percent of senior managers. They estimate that only 3 percent of the federal workforce is currently under the age of 25.

"The U.S. labor force is shrinking as a large number of baby boomers retire and smaller generations enter the workforce," said Stan Paul, general manager of CareerBuilder.com's Government Services Group. "Federal government employers are competing with both the public and private sector for top talent and are becoming more aggressive in attracting qualified candidates to their agencies. Realizing the expansive reach of the Internet, more government employers are adopting online recruitment as an integral part of their recruitment strategy."

CareerBuilder.com on average sees more than 1.2 million job searches each month for government jobs. WorkforAmerica.com, which launched on May 7, will help government employers brand themselves to job seekers through job postings and brand-builder pages, which include details on the organization's mission, benefits, news, career opportunities and more. The site will also showcase different federal segments on its home page every three months. The first feature will be the National Intelligence Community.

"The federal government offers unique opportunities for job seekers that can't be found in the public sector," said Paul. "WorkforAmerica.com provides job seekers a means to explore job avenues they may have never known about and join organizations that have a national impact."

Job seekers can search by keyword, location and job type and by full-time, part-time and contract positions. Visitors also have the option to search CareerBuilder.com's entire database of over 1.5 million jobs and sign up for job alerts that automatically e-mail positions to job seekers based on search criteria.
