CareerBuilder and Emsi compiled a list of the hottest jobs for 2017 based on three factors: 1) occupations that pay, on average, around $20 or more per hour 2) have grown faster than the overall labor market from 2012 to 2016 and 3) have a critical mass of jobs. The study highlights five key career categories where there is persistent demand and a large number of job postings each month.
The analysis uses CareerBuilder and Emsi's extensive labor market database, which pulls from a variety of national and state employment resources as well as online job postings. The following are occupations where workers will find a larger number of opportunities. The average hourly earnings are for the category overall. The job titles listed can earn significantly higher than the average.
